Multi Vehicle Parking Permit

Get a permit for multi vehicle on-street parking.

In certain situations you may need to park multiple vehicles (or your trailer/camper) on the street near your address. In this case you will need to get a multi vehicle permit.

The permit will allow for vehicles to park during the approved time and will grant permission to park:

  • Longer than 3 hours
  • Between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Availability

This MVP permit is available for:

  • Residents that need short term on-street parking for guests (weddings, parties etc.).
  • Residents that need to park a camper.
  • Developers or builders requesting permits on behalf of residents when construction/paving has caused the homeowners' private parking to be unavailable.
  • Multi residential buildings requesting permits on behalf of tenants for up to a period of 15 days for activities that require on-street parking (such as a garage repair).
  • Organizations holding an event for its members or guests

Upon approval these permits do not guarantee parking spaces will be available on the street.

For all permits

  • Parking charges and permits are for use of parking space only
  • The Town of Oakville, its employees or agents are not responsible for loss or damage to vehicle or its contents, however caused
  • A parking space is not guaranteed
  • NSF fee will be applied if payment could not be processed or if payment was declined
  • Failure to make payment will result in cancellation of the permit
  • No credit or refunds for period of time when parking is not used, or parking not found
  • Only those vehicles identified in the permit holder’s account are permitted to use the permit for parking
  • The Town of Oakville reserves the right, with 30 days’ notice, to change rates, fees or parking permit program
  • The Town of Oakville reserves the right to refuse the renewal or issuance of any permit if there are multiple unpaid parking tickets or penalties
  • Permits are non-transferable
  • Permit can only be registered to a vehicle with current licence registration

The permit holder is responsible for

  • Adhering to all the terms and conditions related to their permit
  • Parking their vehicle in the location identified on the permit
  • Parking their vehicle in a parking space designated with pavement markings, if the location has demarcated parking spaces
  • Ensuring all contact, payment and vehicle information is current
  • Ensuring the vehicle is not a commercial vehicle, recreational vehicle, trailer, vehicle with trailer or inoperable vehicle
  • Ensuring the vehicle is properly plated and registered with a valid permit
  • NSF fees if payment could not be processed or if payment was declined
  • Alternate parking arrangements and charges if parking space is not found
  • Contacting Municipal Enforcement Services when a permit is lost or stolen
  • Paying a permit replacement fee for any lost or stolen permit
  • Locking their vehicle when parked
  • Ensuring the vehicle is not parked contrary to other parking regulations, signed or unsigned

Terms specific to this permit

Further to the terms and conditions identified for all permits:

Single-use residential MVP
  • Requests will be approved based on availability of parking in the area. The permit will specify the number of vehicles approved.
  • The applicant is responsible for making accommodations for any vehicles that are not covered by the approved permit.
Recreational camper MVP
  • These permits are for 24 hours only and must be displayed on the vehicle (one night before trip and one night upon return from trip).
  • Available to Oakville residents only. Not intended for visitors to the household with a camper.
  • If you require parking for both loading and unloading you must request two separate permits.
  • Parking operations will assess where to best offer parking based on availability and suitable location.
  • Permit may be denied based on availability to accommodate length of vehicle.
  • Motor homes must be attached to the vehicle at all times when on road.
  • These permits are offered to Oakville residents as a courtesy for load up/unloading only.
  • Motor home cannot be connected to power or water services.
Roadway construction MVP
  • These permits are requested by the builder, developer or town contractor.
  • Applicants can request up to 15 dates per year.
  • These permits are available when access to private parking is temporarily denied due to construction of the road, sidewalk, curb, utility, etc.
  • Staff will review and approve locations where parking availability exists.
Multi-residential permit MVP
  • These permits are requested by property management or by the condo corporation.
  • Extension may be granted for building projects spanning past a 15 day period when a valid building permit exists.
Organizational/business MVP
  • An organization (e.g. a church or a school) may request permits for overflow parking during a special event (e.g. back to school open house). 
  • These permits are requested by the organization
Special event MVP
  • MVP permits will not allow for parking in areas that have temporary "no parking" signs or road closures posted for a special event.
  • The Town of Oakville is not responsible for loss or damage to vehicles while parked on the town road allowance, however caused.
A MVP permit cannot be used to park a vehicle:
  • In such a manner to block another vehicle
  • In a fire route
  • In a designated accessible parking space
  • Within one metre of a driveway
  • Within three metres of a fire hydrant
  • Within 10 metres of an intersection
  • Within 15 metres of a bus stop
  • On any other street than identified on the permit
  • Contrary to other parking regulations, signed or unsigned or temporary signage placed during special events
  • For more than 24 hours without moving
  • During a snow clearing event
  • Vehicles not covered under MVP
The following vehicles are not covered under an MVP unless otherwise specified in the approved permit:
  • Commercial vehicles
  • Recreational vehicles
  • Trailers
  • Vehicles with attached trailer
  • Un-plated vehicles
  • Vehicles with expired plates
  • Vehicles with a temporary license or trip permit
  • Inoperable vehicles
  • Vehicles leaking/dripping fluids
  • Vehicle storage (parking a vehicle on the street for longer than 24 hours is considered vehicle storage)
  • Resale
  • Other uses not specified by the resident at the time of request
