Twenty five young women from Halton are about to get a crash course on the fire services career. Blaze Fire Academy, a joint initiative of the fire departments from the Towns of Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills and the City of Burlington, will provide participants a firsthand experience into all aspects of the fire service – fire suppression and more.
The career camp will take place on August 10 and 11, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fire Training Campus in Oakville, with immersive training offered as follows:
“When the committee reviewed the applications and essays, we saw a lot of drive, passion, and excitement among the participants who want to serve their communities and expand their career opportunities,” said Fire Chief Paul Boissonneault, Oakville Fire Department. “Blaze Fire Academy will help empower them to explore multiple facets of the fire service and provide them with experience, information and guidance to pursue this impactful career path in a safe and fun environment.”
