Starting the week of February 1, weather dependent, a drilling contractor for the town will be working on Westminster Drive and Viewbank Crescent in preparation for the start of storm sewer construction anticipated to begin in spring or summer of 2021.
The contractor will drill small boreholes at four locations (three on Westminster Drive and one on Viewbank Crescent) to study the groundwater conditions in the area. Drilling operations will be done on a weekday and should be completed in one day. While there will be some minor noise, the town will ensure the contractor complies with town by-laws. Following the drilling, monitoring at each borehole will take place over a period of a few weeks.
During the drilling operations, soil samples will be taken for lab analysis. The excess soil that results from the drilling must be placed into drums while we await lab results to determine the condition of the soil before being removed and disposed of. This will result in drums remaining on site for a period of time. The drums will be labelled with the contractor’s information, the contents of the drums and a contact number. The drums will be temporarily stored in one location safely away from the residential street near or within Woodhaven Park.
