Councillor Jonathan McNeice
Councillor Jonathan McNeice was elected as Ward 1 Town Councillor in October 2022.
Born, raised, an eighth-generation Ward 1 resident, and grandson of Bronte grocer Bill Hill of Lakeside Marketeria, Councillor McNeice attended Queen Elizabeth Park High School in the French immersion program before attending McMaster University where he earned an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography. He went on to earn a Master of Urban Planning from the University at Buffalo, as well as a Master of Design, focused on community design, from Ontario College of Art and Design University.
Today, Councillor McNeice and his wife Heather, also an urban planner, and young son Austin, enjoy walks along the Bill Hill Promenade on Bronte’s waterfront, supporting local businesses, attending events at the Bronte Historical Society where Councillor McNeice was a past board member and his grandmother Donna Hill was a founder and road trips throughout the province. As a Rotary member, he spends time with Heather volunteering for the organization, is a past co-chair of the Halton Food Council and has started a local food non-profit in Oakville. In the early 2000s, he gained his interests in urban planning and community involvement through fighting to save the historic Glendella House and neighbouring properties. He was selected as a Toronto Urban Fellow in 2013 and to the Oishei Leaders program in 2019 for his urban planning and community development work.
Councillor McNeice’s more than 15 years of experience in urban planning and community development, working at all levels of municipal government for the municipalities of Edmonton, Toronto, Guelph and Buffalo’s innovation and medical district will be an asset to his role as Ward 1 Councillor.
