Ward 3

The southwest corner of Ward 3 is defined by the Sixteen Mile Creek to the west and the shore of Lake Ontario to the south. For centuries the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation travelled on and lived alongside these two bodies of water.  

The area is now characterized by the business district of Downtown Oakville, lake access from Lakeside Park and Oakville Harbour, historic residential neighbourhoods and 20th-century lakefront estates. The neighbourhood is recognized for its vibrant mix of historic and contemporary mixed-use, commercial and residential buildings, and cultural and community facilities. Downtown is also home to the Oakville Museum at Erchless Estate and the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, making it a destination for residents and visitors.  

Like Wards 1 and 2, the corridor along the QEW and railroad tracks is home to commercial, industrial and office buildings, including the Ford Assembly Plant. 

In the northwest corner of Ward 3, Midtown Oakville makes up just over 100 hectares centred around the Oakville GO Station. The area is planned as a mixed-use urban community with tall buildings, open spaces, and recreational and retail amenities. Pedestrian, cycling, transit and street networks will connect to the rest of Oakville.  

The Town of Oakville was founded on the treaty lands and traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Ward 3 sits on both Treaty 14 land which covers the majority of Oakville and beyond, and Treaty 22 land, which includes the lands on both shores of Sixteen Mile Creek south of the QEW.
