Ward 2 is home to several residential neighbourhoods, Glen Abbey Golf Club in its northwesternmost corner, Oakville Harbour and Kerr Village to the southeast and a band of commercial and employment areas between the north side of the QEW and south side of the railway tracks.

Bounded by the Sixteen Mile Creek to the east, Kerr Village is a vibrant business district and cultural area in the centre of south Oakville. A unique traditional business area, Kerr Village includes a variety of retail, restaurants and services all of which can be easily accessed by the surrounding residential neighbourhoods.

The Kerr Village area was known in the 19th and early 20th centuries for its local industries such as the tannery and the shipyard. Many of the historic homes of labourers for these industries remain today.

The Town of Oakville was founded on the treaty lands and traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Ward 2 sits on both Treaty 14 land which covers the majority of Oakville and beyond, and Treaty 22 land, which includes the lands on both shores of Sixteen Mile Creek south of the QEW.
